Curry & Mango, Agios Nikolaos goes Indian!

I was talking with an English gentleman (thank you Steve!) at the marina of Agios Nikolaos and somehow we started to talk about food and ended up to talk about Indian cuisine and its flavors. Then he told me that actually that same night (yesterday) was an opening of an Indian restaurant in Agios Nikolaos, next to Kitroplateia Beach. So you can guess where we had a dinner yesterday :).

I love Indian cuisine also because it has a large selection of tasty vegetarian choices and I think that back home in Finland, I have been in all of them and I mean ALL. Most northern one has been in Kemi, more than 700 km from Helsinki. But now we are not in Kemi, we are in Agios Nikolaos, just
4500 km south from Kemi, restaurant called L´Indien. It is written in the French way since the owners, Marie-Line and Jaimour, has had 20 years Indian restaurant in Paris and now they have opened this new one in Crete.

Pillows and colors, happy!

View to the Kitroplateia Beach.

Even the toilet taps were beautiful :), but let´s get now to the point!

On the menu was not directly a vegetarian choice like I am used to, you could choose veggie choices from the side dishes ( I think this is something they could do better, pointing something out already in the main menu), but the side dishes I chose, were all worth it, yammy! I had curry lentils, curry aubergines in creme sauce and rice, of course with Naan bread. My friend took Tikka Masala and was also glad of his choice.

Rice was nice looking and tasty.

In case you think your dinner was not enough spiced, don´t worry, that can be fixed!

As a dessert I took vanilla ice-cream with home made mango sauce, good choice. By then the evening has turned dark, see all the empty sun beds on the backround.

People behind the food

Part of the staff, a 15 year old doggie, blind and so calm, lovely creature.

All tables were getting full..

View from our table, not bad, right?

It was the first evening when L´Indien Restaurant was open, I am sure the staff was excited and what made me very happy was that not only foreigners came to eat at the first night, I saw also several Greeks. I wish them all the success, it is good to have something more exotic to eat in Agios Nikolaos for those who wish to taste piece of India! I know that I will return..

    1. Intialainen sapuska uppoaa kyllä meikäläiseen ja on sopivaa vaihtelua kreikkalaiseen keittiöön, josta myös pidän. Agioksessa suuntaan aina myös englantilaiseen ruokakauppaan, josta löytyy luonnollisesti myös aineksia intialaiseen ruoanlaittoon.

Me emme juuri ehtineet kaivata ja teimmekin usein itse sapuskaa. Mahottoman hieno reissu on takana Tinoksella, Syroksella ja Ateenan kautta kotiin. Nyt on vain hieman sopeutumisongelmia vesisateessa + 7 astetta!!
    Hyvät jatkot ja terkut A.N:een!
