Our Lady of Fatima

This year will come 100 years when three shepherd children saw a woman brighter than a sun...On 13 May 2017 they saw her first time and the three children claimed to have seen the Blessed Virgin Mary in a total of six apparitions between 13 May and 13 October in 1917...

Nine year old Lucia and her cousins Jacinta and Fransisco were herding the sheeps near their home in village of Fatima and they told the angel who identified himself as The Angel of Peace taught them prayers, to make sacrifices and to spend time to serve The lord. 

An estimated 70.000 people assembled to witness the last of the promised apparances of the Lady and it became quickly a major center of pilgrimage. Two million pilgrims visited the site in the decade and today some say 3 million a year. When Pope came to speak there in May 2010 ( I was just a week before there first time) 500.000 pilgrims came in Fatima. 

Fatima is located just between Porto and Lisbon and there is a good camper spot right behind the church in a car park dedicated for motorhomes free of charge and also public toilets. Gps coordinates N 39°38'00" W 08°40'13".
